Primal Reflex Release Technique
(PRRT)
–
Philosophy
in a nutshell:
The body activates
primitive reflexes as a response to injury, trauma and stress.
These reflexes may persist and
contribute to pain and dysfunction.
Method:
Gentle tapping and flicking of muscle
and soft tissue to
inhibit and
remove the reflexive responses.
Oren has taken
the Basic, Intermediate and Advanced courses with
John Iams, the
developer of the PRRT system of treatment. At this time
Oren is the only Advanced Practitioner of Prrt in the state of Georgia.
-
Temperomandibular Joint Certification Track –
Oren has taken all the Basic, Intermediate and Advanced courses required
for Certification in Cranio-mandibular,
Head, Neck, and Facial Pain offered by the University of St Augustine,
Florida.
He took all the TMJ
courses with Mariano Rocabado who is a world renowned expert in the field of
musculoskeletal disorders of the jaw and sub-cranial
spine.
Method:
Careful evaluation of restrictions and
laxity of the temperomandibular
joints as well as the joints of the neck that affect the jaw.
The treatment focus is a “back-to-front”
approach with correction of the neck issues first then the jaw and finally the
teeth in collaboration with a dentist.
-
Trigger Point
Release Technique -
Philosophy in a
nutshell:
This method of treatment
is based on the work of Janet Travell MD (personal physician to President
Kennedy).
People may develop active
“trigger points” in their muscles.
Like the trigger of a gun the location of the trigger and the location of
the pain may be far away from each other.
Therefore a toothache may be referred from a muscle in the head and a
headache from a muscle in the shoulder.
Method: The treatment involves deep pressure on
offending trigger points followed by specific stretches and modification of
factors that may be maintaining the trigger points. People with pain referred from trigger
points are said to have myofascial pain syndrome. Oren Bar was taught the
Trigger Point Release technique by Nancy Shaw who was an assistant to the late
Janet Travell.
-
Total Motion Release
(TMR)
–
Philosophy: Exercising the “good” side can fix the
“bad” side. If you don’t believe it
you’re in for a surprise. Sometimes
the painful side or limited side is actually restricted somewhere else in the body. To ease the restriction other
parts of the body need to be involved.
Method: The ultimate self-directed therapy. Once you master the technique you can
treat your own pains and restrictions. The goal of this approach is to empower yourself so that you no longer
need a physical therapist.
